Love this doc about Jean Michel Basquiat (especially the opening title sequence); the interview footage with Basquiat himself is ok, but the other contributing interviews and archive material, and the way they are weaved together is really fantastic.
I love the way Collings’ critiques strip away what we think we know (or don’t know) about artists and paintings, and reassemble them new and fresh in the viewer’s mind.
Piefinger are a folk band from North London. They made a real cracker of an album last year called A Countryman’s Favour, and approached me to make a video for the song It All Falls Apart. I went away and came back with this idea, and they were really up for it and trusting throughout the whole process… it turns out they’re great actors in addition to being great musicians and songwriters.

This week I have been using the holiday period to make a music video for one of the songs from my CD. I was locked away in my room painting, painting, painting, and on Wednesday some friends came over and we shot it… now I’m busy editing editing editing; the result should be ready in the next day or so.
